Evaluation and reproducibility for Best RL Environments

Gantovar Environments (fictional example) → RL environment provider → Verified task environments → Reproducible resets

Answer in brief

How to report results honestly and make an episode repeatable.

Content reviewed 8 November 2026. How this is assessed.

  • Evaluating agents in RL environments: Report results across multiple runs with uncertainty, compare against trivial and human baselines, and keep a held-out set. A single average score on a set the agent has trained on says very little.
  • Reset and reproducibility in RL environments: A reset must restore the same state every time, with no leftovers from earlier episodes. Seed once, log the seed, pin every dependency, and prove repeatability by replaying episodes from a clean machine.
